Annual I.I. exhibition at the Canadian Museum of Nature

April 5 - 8, 2018

 

Program of our Ottawa Centennial Chapter No. 120 , autumn 2017 to summer 2018

Unless otherwise stated, all meetings take place at the Sandy Hill Community Center, 250 Somerset East, Ottawa (11:30 AM). The centre is located at the corner of Sweetland Avenue, just east of King Edward Avenue, on the route 16 OC Transpo bus route. Limited parking is available, on a first-come basis. Chapter meetings begin at 11:30 AM - Refreshments served at 12 noon - Demonstrations begin at 12:30 PM.

October 25, 2017 : Demonstration by Sogetsu School "Celebration of Sogetsu School - 90th Anniversary"  -   Open to visitors

November 29, 2017 : Ikebana International Bazaar Holiday Market  - Guests and visitors 5 $

December 2017 : Season’s Greetings - No meeting

January 31, 2018 : Japanese knives - Open to guests

February 28, 21018 : Demonstration of Kezuroukai by Mr Andrew Ren. In this form of woodwork art, the main tool is a wood plane. The outcome is thin, transparent, strips of wood, measuring in depth as little as 8 microns. Japanese woodworking is also an art that draws upon Japanese aesthetics and philosophy to produce crafted works. Open to guests and visitors for $10. For members, it is free.

April 25, 2018 :  Spring blossoms workshop - “Hands-on” painting  of Plum Blossoms with Rebecca Cragg.This meeting will be held at the McNabb Community Centre on Percy Street.

May 30, 2018 : We have an exciting trip planned for May 30, 2018, to Aquatopia, Conservatory and Gardens, on March Road near Carp,  just 25 minutes from downtown Ottawa.  (Carpools can be organized prior to the event). It is a unique place in the region, where we will get a chance to explore the conservatory and greenhouses as well as the ponds, and enjoy a catered gourmet lunch.

October 28-29, 2017 : Ikebana exhibition: Japanese floral art inspired by Pensées d’automne, at LA FERME MOORE, 670 boul. Alexandre Taché, Gatineau, Qc, Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm, Information (819) 771-4630 or (819) 921-0521, free admission

November 18, 2017 (at 1:30pm): Sogetsu Workshop Create an arrangement in a kokedama container with Claire McCaughey, for members only, click for information

November 26, 2017 (2:30 to 4:30 PM) : Holiday Centrepiece Workshop (using seasonal greens) with Ohara Teacher and professional Florist Terry Hodgins, at McNab Community Centre, 180 Percy Street, Ottawa, $35. per person payable at the door (all plant materials are included), Space is limited, RSVP with Wendy Batson at wenbatson@rogers.com

NEW! June 2nd to 24th, 2018: Exhibition of large paintings done by our Ohara master, Mr Kikuchi, at La Ferme Moore near Champlain Bridge, in Gatineau (Quebec). See more informations

May 12-16, 2019 – 10th North American Sogetsu Seminar, Honolulu, Hawaii. Workshops and Demonstration by Iemoto Akane Teshigahara.
