Program of our Ottawa Centennial Chapter No. 120 , autumn 2010 to summer 2011The monthy program, except on September 29, 2010, begins at 12:00am. The general public (visitors) are welcome but should pay in general $10.00 to participate in the meeting. September 29, 2010 - Welcome Tea - Demonstration of Ikebana by the Sogetsu School -Open to the public - Each member can bring one visitor, on more, and register his nama at the entrance desk. The other visitors will be considered general public and will have to pay $10.00. The activity begin at 11:30 for the members with the business meeting and at 12:00pm for the visitors. October 27, 2010 - Demonstration of Saga Goryu Ikebana and talk on Tea Ceremony by Rebecca Cragg. November 24, 2010 - Annual Christmas Fair and Bazaar (Non-members - $5.00) December 2010 - Happy Holidays. No meeting. January 26, 2011 - Lecture by Mark Burleton, Head of Rideau Hall Grounds, plus a Pot Exchange and Auction. The topic will be "Trees, Shrubs and Perennials for a flower arranger's garden". February 24 - 27, 2011 - Annual Exhibition at the Canadian Museum of Nature (Opening Night for members and guests with an invitation card on February 23) - List of Sponsors March 28 and 29, 2011 - Demonstration and workshops by Ryusei-Ha School of Ikebana presented by Reiko Granade, USA Head of School.
April 27, 2011 - Demonstration by Joanne Plummer from Mill Street Florist in Manotick, known for its beautiful European design work - 11:30 a.m. at the Sandy Hill Community Centre. Ms. Plummer has agreed that her demonstration arrangements will be raffled off to the highest bidder, so everyone bring their chequebooks! May 25, 2011 - For the May General Meeting, your Board has decided to use the meeting as a fundraiser for the victims of the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear crisis in Japan. All monies raised will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross. Anne Breau, Riji of the Sogetsu School, has agreed to provide members and their guests with a demonstration at this meeting. We propose to auction off the arrangements and containers from the demonstration. All members and guests attending the meeting will be asked to pay $25 to the relief effort.
