Program of our Ottawa Centennial Chapter No. 120 , autumn 2015 to summer 2016

Unless otherwise stated, all meetings take place at the Sandy Hill Community Center, 250 Somerset East, Ottawa (11:30 AM). The centre is located at the corner of Sweetland Avenue, just east of King Edward Avenue, on the route 16 OC Transpo bus route. Limited parking is available, on a first-come basis. Chapter meetings commence at 11:30 AM - Refreshments served at 12 noon - Demonstrations begin at 12:30 PM.

September 30, 2015: Welcome Tea with Mrs Kazuko Tanaka, President of the Montreal Ikebana International Chapter and practitioner of the Koryu Shotokai School of Ikebana. She will be demonstrating and creating several arrangements for us in both traditional and modern styles. This is a public event with free admission.

October 28, 2015: Ikebana with fall materials. Demo and workshop with Anne Breau, Riji of Sogetsu School Ottawa. Members-only meeting.

November 25, 2015: Annual Holiday Bazaar. At Sandy Hill Community Center, 250 Somerset St., Ottawa, Members free. Guests and Non-members, $5.00 each. »There is always something special at the table.

January 27, 2016: Miniature Ikebana. At Sandy Hill Community Center. Members: free. Guests and Non-members: $10.00

February 24, 2016: Living Walls. Presentation by Marilyn Whitaker. At Sandy Hill Community Center. Members: free. Guests and Non-members: $10.00

March 31-April 3, 2016: Ikebana International Exhibition, Canadian Museum of Nature. Theme: Rhythm in Nature. Co-chairs: Wendy Batson and Anne Breau. Rhythm in Nature endeavours to capture a fleeting moment of beauty, allowing us to appreciate one of Natures mysterious patterns. The Ottawa Centennial Chapter 120 of Ikebana International and the Canadian Museum of Nature invite you to suspend your thoughts among these flowers and enjoy the pinnacle of their splendour. April 27, 2016: Let's celebrate the seasonal festival of Japan. At Sandy Hill Community Center. Members: $5.00. Guests and Non-members: $15.00

May 25, 2016: Luncheon and visit the Herb Farm in Almonte. $30.00.

October, 3 - 4, 2015: Autumn Symphony - Japanese Floral Art inspired by the Music of Autumn - Sogetsu exhibition at the Embassy of Japan in Ottawa. 10:00 AM to 4 PM Saturday; 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM Sunday. Free Admission!

November 12-15, 2015: 13th I.I. Asian Regional Conference, Grand Hotel Taipei, hosted by Taipei Chapter No. 105.

November 14 -15, 2015: Mitsugi Kikuchi Art Exhibition of paintings at Takahashi Dojo, 5 Melrose ave, Ottawa. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, 1 PM to 8 PM, Sunday, Nov. 15, 10AM to 4PM. On display is also Ikebana ("Floral art").

March 5 - 6, 2016: Ohara Exhibition at the Embassy of Japan in Ottawa. 10:00 AM to 4 PM on Saturday; 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Sunday. Free Admission!

June 8 to 10, 2016: South American Regional Conference, in Asuncion, Paraguay.

April 12 to 15, 2017: Ikebana International 11th World Convention, Okinawa Convention Center
