September 28, 2011 - Welcome Tea:  Speaker - Kathy Harker Fiander, artist and poet. Painting flowers.
 
October 26, 2011 - Demonstration of Arrangements Using Leaves done by Judy Fine (Non-members - $10.00)
 
November 30, 2011 - Annual Christmas Fair and Bazaar.   (Non-members - $5.00)
 
December 2011 - Happy Holidays
 
January 25, 2012 - Demonstration of Wagashi (the art of Japanese sweets) by Shinobu-sensei. Cost for participants is $20 each, to a maximum of 25 participants (members only) - you may also assist as observer.

February 29, 2012 - Demo/workshop of Ohara School. Material cost to be determined (Non-members - $10.00)

March 29, 2012 - Workshop on the art of making Washi-paper Easter Eggs by Hide Huang (Non-members - $10.00;  Material cost:  )

April 19-22, 2012 - Annual Exhibition at the Canadian Museum of Nature under the theme "Melody". Opening on April 18 for members and invited guests.

September 10, 2011 - Bonsai Event

The Ottawa Bonsai Society will hold its Annual Bonsai Exhibition for 2011 on Saturday, September 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday, September 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Japanese Embassy, 255 Sussex Drive in Ottawa. Come and see the most beautiful bonsai in the Ottawa-Gatineau area. Dozens of species of trees, some over 100 years old, will be on display. Learn how almost any tree can be transformed into a living sculpture with this ancient art form. Admission is free and parking is available inside the gate of the Embassy.  Information:  (819) 684-0586.

La Société de bonsaï d'Ottawa présentera son exposition annuelle de bonsaï pour 2011 le samedi 10 septembre de 10h à 16h et le dimanche 11 septembre de 10h à 15h à l'ambassade du Japon, 255, promenade Sussex à Ottawa.  Venez voir les plus beaux bonsaïs  de la région d'Ottawa-Gatineau.  Des douzaines d'arbres miniatures d'espèces différentes seront en montre, dont certains ont plus de cent ans.  Apprenez comment transformer presque n'importe quel arbre en une sculpture vivante grâce à cette forme d'art très ancienne. September 25, 2011 - Japan Day: This celebration of Japanese culture features a wide range of individual local artists, performances and more for visitors of all ages.  Ikebanas, Kimono fashion show, martial arts demonstration, Ota-wa-taiko, and performances by Ana Miura.  Location: Canadian Museum of Civilization, 100 Laurier Street, Gatineau.  Hours: 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Admission: Free with Museum admission.

October 7-8, 2011 - North Canton Chapter # 54 celebrating its 50th Anniversary with an Ikebana Exhibit at the Canton Museum of Art, Canton, Ohio

October 22-23, 2011 - Ohara School's annual exhibition. The theme of this year's exhibition is Canadian Perspectives. At the Japanese Embassy, 125 Sussex Drives, Ottawa. Cost: free. Opening time: Oct. 22, 10am to 4pm and Oct.23: 10am to 3pm.
